The project titled 'Support for Sustainable Urban Mobility in Cities,' abbreviated as SUMP Türkiye, has the final beneficiary as the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT). Co-financed by the Republic of Türkiye and the European Union, the SUMP Türkiye project has been initiated in alignment with the vision of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. Its aim is to promote, clarify, and implement the concept of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) in all municipalities, parallel to the vision of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye.
The Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT) was established in 1945 as a non-profit association to operate in the field of municipal affairs. In 2005, it gained the authority to represent municipalities at national and international levels, becoming the sole local government association of which, all municipalities are natural members.
UMT, with its transformative approach, aims to implement practices that address unmet needs in local governance and strives to be a national and international union in this field.
