The International Urban Mobility Conference and SUMP Türkiye Project Closing
Event will be held on 7–8 July 2025 in Ankara!
The “International Urban Mobility Conference and Project Closing Event,” organised under the theme “Unlocking Urban Mobility: Strategic Outlook for Türkiye and Europe,” will take place in Ankara on 7–8 July 2025 as part of the SUMP Türkiye Project.
Hosted by the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, this high-level conference will bring together key national stakeholders—including the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, and the Directorate for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—as well as municipalities, EU institutions, SUMP Türkiye Volunteers, and leading urban mobility experts from around the world.
The conference will feature strategic sessions addressing the latest innovations and approaches for transforming urban transport. One key session will evaluate a strategic vision under the title “Shaping the Future: Planning for Progress and Impact – The White Policy Paper Approach.” Another will focus on “Findings, Challenges, Solutions, and Roadmaps of the SUMP Türkiye Project,” offering data-driven insights tailored to Türkiye’s needs.
In parallel, case studies from Türkiye and Europe—including success stories from SUMP cities and best practices from the EU—will be shared. Concrete steps for integrated planning at both national and local levels will be discussed. The day will conclude with the presentation of city case booklets and field manuals that capture urban experiences and tools. On the second day, sessions will explore project financing models and methods of
resource mobilisation. Techniques to improve planning efficiency through data
collection, analysis, and management tools will be presented. A focus will be placed on the resilience of urban mobility systems, with deep dives into challenges and
solutions in infrastructure planning and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system design.
Participants will also have the opportunity to explore innovative city projects
showcased at information stands and build partnerships during networking sessions.
A special session on equality and inclusivity in transport will examine policy steps
required to guarantee mobility access for all.
Spanning two days, the Conference will strengthen future cooperation at both
national and international levels and conclude with a live music reception marking the
national closing of the SUMP Türkiye Project. This future-shaping summit, limited to invited guests, will also be streamed live via
SUMP Türkiye’s social media channels for audiences across Türkiye.
Detailed programme information will be available on the SUMP Türkiye website and
social media platforms.
